I have been watching Wheel for as long as I can remember. I used to watch with my Nanny before she passed away when I was 11. My mom Antoinette, my dad Michael, and my twin brothers Anthony and Mike have been devoted Wheel watchers with me ever since. One night this past January, my mom and I were watching an episode together like we do every night, when I turned to her and said “I really want to try out for the show.” That night, we recorded a cheesy introduction video and sent it in to the show with little expectations of what was to come next. My brother Mike lives in Baltimore and flew in to come with us which was a really nice surprise. We did touristy stuff for the whole day before the taping, but I can’t wait to eventually come back and explore more of California! We don’t have palm trees here on Long Island. Seeing the set in person with all the beautiful Christmas decorations was awesome because it’s so cool to see what happens on the other side of the cameras when watching at home. I don’t remember feeling nervous at any point during the day…I don’t know where my ability to stay calm came from! I’m writing this blog post before my episode actually airs so I’m writing from memory. A lot of the taping is a blur, but there are some standout moments that I haven’t forgotten. I couldn’t believe that I actually solved the first toss-up and introduced myself first. That was definitely the most nerve-wracking part for me. To close the show, I was talking to Pat and Vanna about my winnings and Pat said, “I bet Nicholas (my nephew) is going to have a great Christmas this year, huh?” Considering today is Christmas, I’d say Nicholas is absolutely having a great Christmas!
